Mission Statement of the Department

The mission of the Faculty is to develop students to think independently, communicate clearly, broaden their abilities for critical and intelligent examination of the humanities and social sciences, and be committed to a variety of intellectual and social responsibilities. The Faculty will develop in students’ ethical and Christian values that will transform them into more productive and fulfilled humankind.

Objectives
The objectives of the Faculty are:
to generate and disseminate knowledge towards a better understanding of society through research in the Humanities and Social Sciences;

• to develop critical thinking in students;
  
• to assist students to become responsible members of society;
  
• to prepare students for advanced studies in various fields in the Humanities and Social Sciences; and
  
• to conduct both operational and pure research in various fields in the Humanities and Social Sciences with special reference to Cameroon and Africa.
  

Admission Requirements

For undergraduate admission, candidates must have passed the G.C.E. ordinary level in at least 5 papers including English, before obtaining two G.C.E. Advanced level papers, one of which should be in English literature and the other in another social science subject.

Future, Career and Employment Opportunities

The BA Graduate in English is suited for immediate employment as a teacher. A first degree in English can lead to a wide variety of jobs in schools, industries, (food, textile, etc), agriculture, or can lead to self-employment as writers or essayist.
Our graduates also qualify go for further studies at CATUC or any other world class university of their choice.

Fees
The tuition fee per year is 639,500 F CFA for Cameroonians and 1,039,500 F CFA for foreign students. To read more about fees   click here.
