Business Anthropology, a subfield of Applied Anthropology, involves the application of anthropological theories and methods to the study of organizations, marketing and consumer behaviour, and design. At the core of this course is the anthropological interest in culture and how that shapes behaviours and beliefs. Business Anthropology is important because it helps organizations better understand the motivations and behaviours of organizational actors streamline the user experience, enhance marketing campaigns, and create more inclusive companies.
It is the mission of the Department of Anthropology to provide a curriculum that will help students develop a deeper understanding and appreciation of the diversity and complexity of the human experience culturally, biologically and historically.
