Overview of the ACCA qualification

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has its headquarters in London, England, with global office locations across Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. There are over 154,000 members and 432,000 students represented in over 170 countries.
There are over
8,500 ACCA members and students in Cameroon presently. Members work in industry, commerce, public practice, academia, government and other areas. ACCA members and students can be found throughout Cameroon, especially Douala, Yaounde, Buea, Bamenda, Bafoussam and Limbe just to name a few.
The ACCA Qualification has been designed to provide the students with skills and knowledge relevant to any business, which means they will be free to choose which type of accountancy role and organisation they want to work for.  It is recognised as one of the world's most respected accountancy qualifications and is eagerly sought after by large and small employers around the world, from the largest multinational companies to small family businesses. The qualification has a strong focus on professional values, ethics and governance. This is essential because the accountancy profession is moving towards strengthened codes of conduct, regulation and legislation, which is why the ACCA Qualification has an increased focus on professionalism and ethics in accounting.

Membership of the ACCA
To qualify as an ACCA member, you will need:

  • To pass 14 exams (9 of the exams which are part of the qualification will not need to be taken if you have other relevant qualifications at the same level. You will need to provide proof of your previous qualifications to ACCA in order to claim exemptions);

  • a record of 36 months' experience in a relevant role;

  • to successfully complete the Professional Ethics module.

Prestigious Qualification
As a professionally qualified accountant you will be seen as a highly skilled, business-focused individual, and be able to command both the top jobs and the top salaries.
The ACCA Qualification, therefore, really is a prestigious qualification to gain.  However, it can only be achieved through hard work and determination.
