The Appointment of a Coadjutor Bishop for the Diocese of Mamfe



The Archbishop of Bamenda and Chancellor of the Catholic University of Bamenda, His Lordship Cornelius Fontem Esua, granted a press conference in the Aula Magna of the University at 11:00Am Cameroon time in which he announced the Appointment of a Coadjutor Bishop for the Diocese of Mamfe.

His Lordship Cornelius Fontem Esua, made an elaborate speech, citing the processes that were involved in the appointment of the Bishop and the highlight of his speech goes thus :

It is my privilege and bounded duty to announce to you the news of great joy, a joy to be shared by the entire Ecclesiastical Province of Bamenda, of the appointment by the Holy Father, Pope Francis, of a Coadjutor Bishop for the Diocese of Mamfe. This appointment has been made public today Wednesday, 10th July 2013, at 12 noon local time at the Vatican City in Rome. He is the Very Rev. Father Andrew Fuanya Nkea, Priest of the Diocese of Buea, who is Registrar of the Catholic University of Cameroon, CATUC Bamenda.”


After his speech, the Vice Chancellor of the university,
Rev. Father Michael Suh Niba, made a speech in which he said

it is both a gain and a loss -a gain for the Church which we all serve but a loss for CATUC and that he is pleased that CATUC has produced her first Bishop and  looking forward for the first Nobel Prize Winner.”


Many people in CATUC shared his opinion.

A few journalists present asked His Lordship a few questions which he answered.
