Environmental toxicology, Environmental and Health Risk Assessment

  • Research in this domain include the following;
  • Ecological risk assessment of agricultural pesticides in the highly productive Ndop flood plain in Cameroon using the PRIMET model
  • Preliminary risk assessment of pesticides used by vegetable farmers on the streams of Bambili
  • Using the PRIMET model to determine the effects of seasonal differences on pesticide risk in a headwater stream.

Ecotoxicology

  • I have carried out work on the effects of binary mixtures of Glyphosate, Paraquat and 2, 4 D-Amine On Sorghum saccharatum and Lepidium sativum seeds

Water quality

  • Disease prevalence of waterborne diseases in Nkwen and Mankon North West Region Cameroon
  • An Evaluation Of The Bacteriological Efficiency Of Local Treatment Methods For Safe Household Drinking Water In Bamenda, Cameroon
  • Comparative analysis of quality household drinking water, from different sources in Nkwen, Bamenda

Research work is currently going on in collaboration with the College of Technology, University of Bamenda;

  • The effects of halving  pesticides doses to control insect and fungi pest of Tomato
  • Occupational and health risk of pesticides among vegetable farmers in Meda-kwe, Bamenda
  • Comparing the efficacy of single and binary mixtures of solvigo, counter 15g and verango 400g  nematicides  used in the control of  nematodes in the Banana plantation

Work to be done next academic year

The research has submitted a grant proposal on “ The Terrestrial and Second Tier Aquatic Risk Assessment Of Agricultural Pesticides in the Highly Productive Ndop Floodplain, Cameroon Using the PRIMET  PERPEST And the SSDS Models”, to the British Ecological Society. This work will be carried out next year if funded.
